Personal
Injury and Wrongful Death
The litigation team at
Langdale Vallotton has been and continues to be involved
in representing some of the most high profile injury
and death claims in South Georgia. While most
of its practice is devoted to representing injured
victims and their families, due to their experience
and respect in South Georgia, they are often called
upon to defend some of the larger cases as well. In
fact, they are regularly engaged as local counsel
by outside law firms, ranging from New York to California.
The litigation team is lead by Pope Langdale, who has been involved
in civil litigation for over fifteen years. He is actively
involved in the area of civil litigation throughout the State
of Georgia, serving on the Board of Governors of the State Bar
of Georgia, the Board of Directors of the General Practice
and Trial Section of the State Bar of Georgia, the
Southern Trial Lawyers Association, and serves as the District
Vice President of the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association
. As the senior leader on the litigation team, he
oversees all of the cases handled at the firm. Each case is further
staffed by at least one associate and one paralegal.
The litigation team has achieved unequaled success in South Georgia. Our
litigation teams, all of whom have extensive courtroom experience,
are assisted by the use of state of the art technology to ensure
that our cases are organized, our presentations are powerful and
effective, and our messages reach opposing attorneys, insurance adjusters,
judges, and ultimately, jurors. We also maintain ongoing relationships
with nationally known experts in fields such as medicine, biomechanics,
engineering, law enforcement and state patrol, business, accounting
and economics, all to assure that the cases, and theories relied
upon, are well-founded and properly supported. Such commitment
to the case results in justice for the client under the law.
We have represented some of the most noteworthy cases in recent history
in South Georgia, resulting in fair justice to those it represented. For
instance, the firm represented the family of a young girl who
died while having cavities filled at the dentist’s office,
which resulted in a settlement of $1 million dollars. The
firm also represented the family of a local high school basketball
player who died after collapsing on the gym floor, later determined
to be the result of a misdiagnosis by the pediatrician of an
underlying heart condition. We received one of the largest
civil rights wrongful death verdicts in State history, when a
jury returned a verdict against the State of Georgia for $1.75
million for the death of a young girl incarcerated at a Youth
Detention Center, who did not receive timely medical care. In the
last two years, over ten million dollars has been received for
clients in personal injury and wrongful death settlements and verdicts.

Due to our extensive
experience in personal injury litigation, our litigation team was
called in to handle all of the defense work for Wild Adventure
Theme Park, one of the top fifty largest amusement parks in the
United States. For the last ten years we have actively defended
all lawsuits arising out of this theme park, and have never had
a verdict rendered against the theme park. We have successfully
had over half of all cases filed dismissed early in the litigation,
and have settled very few cases, with the majority settling for
very little money. We are also frequently called upon to
assist insurance defense counsel in the defense of local doctors
as personal counsel, and local businesses as personal counsel. In
this endeavor as well, we have always prevailed and never had a
verdict rendered against any of our clients.
