Education Law
Our firm represents
teachers across South Georgia as a member of the team of lawyers
representing the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (“PAGE”). We have been representing
teachers and administrators for over ten years in South Georgia, handling all
types of personnel issues. We routinely represent teachers in investigations
by the Professional Standards Commission (“PSC”), and have argued
and tried cases in front of administrative law judges, local boards of education,
local courts, as well as appellate courts in Georgia. We have assisted
in getting back pay awarded to educators who were wrongfully uncompensated
in prior years, and have held boards of education responsible for wrongfully
terminating an educator’s contract. We were successful in having
a PSC decision overturned by a Superior Court Judge, when the PSC was disciplining
elementary grade teachers because some high school students, without their
knowledge, consumed alcoholic beverages in their back yard while at their high
school daughter’s party. This same decision was recently
upheld by the Georgia Court of Appeals and now provides needed
precedent in support of teachers across the state.
